Copper Cyanide
One of the forms of cyanide that is the most dangerous types of this substance is copper cyanide. Copper cyanide come in green powder form and does not mix with water. There are practical uses for this material but it should be well known that a person should not even get this on their skin. This compounds chemical makeup is CCuN, carbon, copper, and nitrogen atoms.
This material is most commonly used in fire fighting and fire prevention because it suffocates the oxygen needed to produce flames. Like in the human body, this form of cyanide is an active agent in limiting and destroying oxygen molecules in the air and on things it touches. Firefighters do not usually use this substance because it is so dangerous to handle.
Copper cyanide is so dangerous because only .4 grams of the substance can be fatal if it finds its way into the human body. It can kill a person by merely being applied to the skin. If this substance gets in an open wound, in the eyes, on the skin, or is accidentally ingested, a person may only have a short window to combat the negative effects it has on the human body.
Because it is so harmful to the human body, and the body of pretty much all living things, people handling this substance must take extra precautions. Protective clothing and gear must be worn at all times in order to avoid physical contact with this compound. Eye goggles, full body protective garments, and a breathing respirator mask must be worn when handling this material.
Besides the fact that this substance is so dangerous, people should steer clear of it because it is illegal. Copper cyanide has its practical uses in plating and in fire prevention but can produce poison gas if compounded with the right chemical elements. A good rule of thumb is to know what it is and what it looks like in order to stay away from this chemical substance.
